      You can easily design your own web page with a minimal amount of effort. Below are some web sites and programs that will help you design your pages.

Web Server Space


In order to have a web page that can be accessed on the Internet, you need to have a web server that will host your pages and graphics. Below are some places where you can get space on a server.

Your ISP or Online Service
      Many online services and ISPs give you space for your pages included with your fee. Check with your provider for information.

GeoCities
      http://www.geocities.com
Angelfire Communications
      http://www.angelfire.com
      Both Angelfire and GeoCities provide you with free web space. In exchange, people viewing your pages see paid advertisements.

HTML Editors


      Below are programs that can help you design your web pages.

HotDog Pro
      http://www.sausage.com
      HotDog is a great program making it easy for beginners, but also allowing experienced programs to work. You can download a trial version from their web site.

Microsoft FrontPage 98
      http://www.microsoft.com/frontpage/
      The latest edition of Microsoft's popular web site design program. This program provides a WYSIWYG view of your pages.

Netscape Navigator Gold
      http://www.netscape.com
      Navigator Gold is Netscape's browser plus a basic built-in HTML editor.

Microsoft FrontPage Express (formerly FrontPad)
http://www.microsoft.com/ie/ie40/features/?/ie/ie40/features/frontpad.htm
      FrontPage Express is a full-featured scaled down version of FrontPage. It comes free with the IE 4.0 suite.

Your Word Processor
      Many of today's word processors allow you to save your document in HTML format.

Windows Notepad
      Notepad allows quick and easy HTML coding for experienced HTML writers. The TCC web site was coded with Notepad.

HTML Goodies
      http://www.htmlgoodies.com
      This site includes lots of help with HTML and JavaScript, plus hundreds of free images.

W3C HTML Validator Services
      http://validator.w3.org
      This free online service checks your HTML to be sure it is properly written.

Graphics and Images


HTML Goodies
      http://www.htmlgoodies.com
      HTML Goodies contains hundreds of free images that can jazz up your web page.

Stepping Stones Animation
      http://www.ssanimation.com
      This site contains lots of graphics for your web site. It also has lots of animated graphics, too.

Site Builder Network Libraries
      http://www.microsoft.com/sitebuilder/
      The Site Builder Network site contains tons of pictures for your site.

Commercial Graphics Programs
Create Your Own Graphics

Other Web Pages
      Be sure to get permission from the page's owner before you use their graphics.

Books and Magazines


Internet World (monthly magazine)
      Each month, Internet World contains a section of web page design and scripting.

"Teach Yourself HTML in 7 Days"
"HTML for Dummies"
      Both of these books teach you the basics of web site designing.

"Java for Dummies"
"JavaScript for Dummies"
      These "Dummies" books teach you about Java and JavaScript, two easy ways to spice up your pages.

Java
      Create cool mini-programs to run on your site.

JavaScript
      Java's smaller sibling allows you to add dynamic content to your pages.

VBScript
      Microsoft's competitor to JavaScript.

RealAudio/RealVideo
      Add sound and video clips to your pages.

Shockwave
      Allows you to add fast-downloading animations to your pages.
